…What exactly is a Deep Tech venture?
In a short text, which is aimed at the decision-makers in innovation ecosystems, Fiona Murray (MIT Sloan), Lars Frølund (European Innovation Council), my BFH-colleague Martin Murmann, and I have written down our current understanding based on our experience with these ventures.
As Deep Tech efforts in Switzerland, Germany, and of course the US gain traction and focus, establishing a clear understanding of the “Deep Tech venture” is crucial for creating a consensus and standardized discussion basis for decision-makers. It is also important to address how the rules differ from those of digital ventures, which had the main focus over the last decade.
This is certainly not the final word of wisdom, but it is a start.
